Rushcutters Bay is a picturesque harbourside suburb located in Sydney's inner-east, bordered by a water reserve. The suburb is named after the bay it sits beside, offering stunning harbour views and ample green spaces, including Rushcutters Bay Park which connects to Yarranabbe Park. The area is surrounded by the suburbs of Elizabeth Bay, Darlinghurst, Paddington, and Darling Point, with Kings Cross bordering to the west.

Originally swampy land covered in tall rushes and mudflats, what is now Rushcutters Bay Park was first known as Rush Cutting Bay. Early settlers used the tall rushes for thatching houses. From the 1830s to the 1870s, the area was used for market gardening. In 1876, six acres of land were reserved for recreational purposes, and by 1883, work was completed, ultimately leading to the creation of Rushcutters Bay Park as we know it today.
